A library card is valid for 3 years. New cards are free. Renewing an old card is free if the patron still has the physical card. There is a fee of $2.00 for replacement of lost cards.

To obtain a Tremont District Library card, adult residents 18 years of age and older, residing within the library district, must provide current identification with their name and address.

A state-issued photo ID with a Tremont address is sufficient identification to get a card. The following are acceptable pieces of state photo identification: Illinois Driver's License, State of Illinois Identification Card or Firearm Owner's Identification Card.

If the parent has a library card, no further identification is needed for a child’s card. If the parent does not have a card, we require the above form(s) of identification in order to sign up a child.

Patrons must register in person for a library card in all normal instances. However, the library staff may facilitate card sign-ups for children in Tremont Schools through a permission slip sent to parents. Exceptions are also made for homebound patrons.
